Lauren Ford


Artist and writer. Renowned American painter and illustrator, most remembered for her paintings depicting religious scenes.
Born in New York City, she took an interest in drawing at an early age. Enrolling at the Art Students League of New York and later studying in Paris, France. Her artwork has been presented at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Art Institute of Chicago. "Life" magazine featured her paintings in several of it's issues including the December 25, 1944 edition which dedicated 12 pages to her paintings along with one of her best known works,"Madonna and Child" featured on the cover.
Author of 3 books with a religious theme, she was awarded the 1940 Caldecott Medal for "The Ageless Story".
